Guitar Basics
Playing the guitar would be one of the greatest pleasures in life and thus, learning to how to actually play it would be the best way to start enjoying the basic routines of music playing. Now, first and foremost, you would have to know the basic parts of the guitar. There’s the peg head, the big head at the top of the guitar, where one end of the strings that you would be playing would be fastened. The next part of the guitar that you should know is the fret board, because that would be the place where your fingers would be sliding up and down to get your groove on. The next part is the truss rod, that part of the guitar that you would be swinging up and down in joy when you finally get a chord right. Then of course there are the strings of the guitar, which really are the best things about the guitar, because you can continually touch them and replace them as you see fit. You can always experiment with the new guitar strings.
Now, one of the first things that you have to remember would be the different strings. The different strings represent different families of notes. So there is the E string, the A string, the D string, the G string, the B string and the E string again. Depending on what kind of thing you are playing, these are standardized lines of strings. A good way to start playing the guitar would be to buy a guide for it, or simply a chord chart. Start simple.
Find a song that you like, a simple song that has few chords. The chords are those letters that you see on top of the lyrics, like A, B, B# and so on and so forth. These chords are the groups of notes that you would need to strum or pluck in order to play the songs. Now, when you are trying to play the chords, try to place each finger carefully on the exact positions as illustrated on the chord charts, and try to get a feel of it. Strum slowly, then fast, then try to get a melody out of it. Don’t expect that you would be playing like a professional on the first try. The things that you hear on the radio are results of years of practice, and you would be able to do that to if you just keep practicing.
Try to get a rhythm, the just play. There are no real rules to playing, you just have to understand that for every error you make you are learning quickly, and later on, you would have learned a lot. You can choose to pluck the strings or you may choose to strum, it doesn’t matter how you do it first, the important thing is you simply get a feel of the instrument and make it yours. Try to bridge the gap between the newness and the need to play it.
